Control your DSLR camera with your iPhone using BlueSLR

Gone are the days where you need to buy dedicated remotes for doing things from afar. Ever since the advent of advanced wireless technology (Bluetooth, WiFi), smartphones with apps have been used to replace remote controls. It’s time to add one more device to the list of things which you can control- no, it’s not the car (though I expect that it would arrive sometime soon) but it’s the Digital SLR camera. If you own a Nikon D70, D3100, D5000, D3(S), D200, D300(S) or D700 and you own an iOS device, there’s no need for you to get a dedicated camera remote. XEquals has released a Bluetooth connector for you to attach to your camera so that you can communicate with it using your iPhone/iPod touch/iPad. All you need to do is attach the blueSLR Bluetooth camera connector to your DSLR, download the free app for your iOS device, hook both of them up and you’re set! Besides being able to take pictures remotely (from up to 300 feet away), you can even adjust the settings such as your camera’s shutter speed, focus, timer and more. The Bluetooth connector also comes with a GPS unit which can be used to geotag your images for easy sorting when you get back home. The blueSLR Bluetooth camera connector will set you back $149.00 and can be purchased online. At the moment only Nikon cameras are supported, but XEquals have mentioned that Canon support will come soon. Head here for more details about the device, and download the app from the iTunes App Store here.
