Verizon Wireless and HTC have scheduled an event in Seattle to “celebrate the launching of the HTC Droid Merge World-Phone,” suggesting that Thursday night will be the launch date for the HTC world phone that boasts similar specs and form factor as the HTC Desire Z internationally and the HTC T-Mobile G2 in the U.S. Like other devices made by HTC in the range, this one will also feature a sliding keyboard, 3.8-inch WVGA display, an 800 MHz processor, and Android 2.2 Froyo with HTC Sense 1.6 user interface. A 5-megapixel camera and 4 GB of storage are also on board for this device. As the Merge is a world phone, it will utilize Verizon Wireless’s CDMA/EV-DO connection in the U.S. and fall onto GSM/EDGE/HSPA for 3G overseas. Pricing and exact availability are not known at this time and more information may come on Thursday at Verizon’s announcement.
