A long time ago Twitter announced that they will be bringing push notifications to their app for the iOS. After what seemed like months, Twitter’s promise has finally come true. The official Twitter app on the iOS now has push notification. After enabling it in the options, whenever you get a @mention or a direct message, you’ll receive the notification on your iPhone. I’ve always been puzzled with the need for Twitter push notifications- tweets are usually messages that I read in my spare time and have nothing better to do. Is push notification really necessary for Twitter? This feature will be rolling out to Android and Windows Phone 7 versions of the app as well in the near future.
