A video showing the Samsung Orion ARM Cortex-A9, Samsung’s next-generation processor for their upcoming handheld device, has shown up on the internet. The Orion is capable of displaying 1080p HD videos at 30 FPS, embedded GPS, high speed 3D and 2D graphics accelerators, a 64-bit multi-layer bus architecture, TV-out and HDMI interface support, TFT 24-bit true color LCD controller, and runs on low power. If you didn’t understand what all that technical jargon means, it all translates to a high-speed processor that turns smartphones and tablets into high-powered machines capable of displaying beautiful, high-res graphics. The Orion will support Linaro (a distribution of Linux that is optimized to work with ARM processors) as well as Android. Expect it to show up in the next Galaxy Tab or Galaxy S phones.
