Motorola has just announced that they will be splitting up into two companies by January 4 2011. The main bulk of Motorola will change its name to Motorola Solutions, Inc. while its mobile division will separate to form Motorola Mobility, Inc. The split will allow each company to focus on different areas without jeopardizing the other. Motorola Mobility, Inc. CEO, Sanjay Jha said “We look forward to taking advantage of the opportunities before us as we begin the new year as two independent, publicly traded companies.” With Motorola Mobility able to focus all their resources on mobile technology, it’s going to be interesting to see what sort of direction they’ll be heading towards for the coming year.
