Microsoft will push Windows Phone 7 directly to users

It looks like Microsoft has learnt a lesson or two from their competitors. When asked about how Windows Phone 7 updates will be delivered, they answered,”Microsoft will push Windows Phone 7 software updates to end users and all Windows Phone 7 devices will be eligible for updates.” This confirms that updates for WP7 will come directly from them, and not the carriers. Following the method of how Apple has been releasing their updates- this will ensure that all users will get updates for their phones at the same time, and they will all be on the same version as well. Sounds like they are future-proofing themselves from fragmentation that Android is famous for. With Microsoft disallowing carriers or manufacturers to modify Windows Phone 7, yet allowing different manufacturers to make phones with the same operating system, they seem to have picked the right balance between iOS and Android. But entering the market a tad too late with WP7, Microsoft still need to show that their mobile OS is something worth switching to. How many of you have converted to WP7 users?
