Microsoft promises 3,000 WP7 apps by the end of the week
It looks like Microsoft is going full steam ahead with its preparations for the holiday season. In their latest post on the Windows Phone blog, they have mentioned five steps they have taken to promote Windows Phone 7 apps and games this holiday season. But preceding those five ways, they mentioned that the Windows Marketplace will have around 3,000 apps by the end of the week. That’s a pretty solid number to get them through the holiday season, but they’re going to have to do a lot more if they want to compete against their rivals, Android (Android Market) and let alone Apple’s App Store. The five steps they have taken to promote their apps are: allow users to search for apps visually using Bing, promote their games on their Xbox 360, feature apps on their windowsphone.com website, advertise their apps and games all over the world, and keep their Zune PC software constantly updated with the latest and featured apps. Are you a WP7 user? If you are, what apps do you think are lacking on your WP7 device?
