When a consumer tablet becomes more popular than a gaming console in a kid’s wish list, you know times have changed. According to a recent poll by Nielsen, the iPad is the must-have gadget for kids aged 6-12 this holiday season. The iPad beat the Nintendo DS, PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360 and a whole bunch of other devices. In addition to the iPad dominating the poll, the iPod touch comes in a close second, tied with the computer. Who would’ve thought that Apple could make such a huge impact on children of today? While old school gamers (like me, apparently) prefer to play games using controllers that have tactile buttons, it seems like today’s generation prefer games on touchscreen devices such as the iPad and iPod touch. Though whether the list is an indication of how parents will be spending their money this holiday season, if you’re looking for some ideas on what to get your kid this Christmas, you really can’t go wrong with just about anything on it.
