BlackBerry PlayBook pricing and more details revealed
Mobility Insider seems to have gotten their hands on the full pricing details for RIM’s upcoming tablet. Without further ado, here are the prices for the BlackBerry PlayBook:
8GB: $399
16GB: $499
32GB: $599
It looks like it tallies up with previous reports about the tablet costing under $500- if you’re planning to get the models with less memory. If carriers do subsidize the device with contracts, then we’ll be seeing the tablets for much cheaper as well. Except for the difference in memory size, all three models will all be identical in features and functionality. The Tablets won’t have any built in WWAN connectivity, so you’ll have to rely on WiFi, Mobile hotspots and tethering to your BlackBerry if you want to go online. However, the follow up to the PlayBook (rumored to arrive some time in 2012) should have such capabilities. The PlayBook will also be arriving only in mid-February or later, but within the first quarter of 2011. With next year being the year of the tablets, it’s going to be interesting to see which side will be crowned champions. Whose side are you on?
