According to a recent ruling, Apple will not be accepting anymore single-station radio apps, likening them to the same level as fart apps. With this new ruling, Apple will only accept radio apps that have hundreds of stations on the same app. Looking at how competitive radio stations are, it doesn’t look like this will be happening anytime soon, as no station wants to be on the same app as their competitors. Reasons to why Apple would want to do this are unclear, but it is speculated that Apple might be offering some sort of radio tool of their own in the future, and by having less competition on their own platform, the higher the chance it has to succeed. In the mean time single-radio station apps that can’t make it onto iOS devices could probably make an appearance on Android. After all, there are no rules of that sort to prevent them from doing so. Why do you think Apple is disallowing anymore single-station radio apps? What could be up their sleeves?
