The chief technology officer of Adobe, Kevin Lynch, has responded to complaints about the effect of Flash on the Mac Book Air’s battery life. Apparently in tests that were done by the critics- they compared the battery life of sites with Flash loaded and the same sites but without Flash loaded. According to Kevin Lynch, “It’s a false argument to make, of the power usage. When you’re displaying content, any technology will use more power to display, versus not displaying content. If you used HTML5, for example, to display advertisements, that would use as much or more processing power than what Flash uses.” As we know that is a valid argument, but until similar testing with HTML 5 is done, we won’t know for sure. Where is your stance on Flash in the future? With Apple refusing to let it have any part of its iOS devices, will it still be around in the future or will HTML 5 make it obsolete?
