Acer had announced a smartphone running on the Android operating system with a 4.8-inch screen, which is a little bit smaller than the 5-inch display on the Dell Streak, a device that straddles the smartphone-tablet line in convergence devices. What’s surprising is the high-pixel count of the 4.8-inch display, which comes in at 1024 X 480. While the number may seem like a lot of pixels, it’s actually an elongated version of a a VGA display–we’ve seen 800 X 480 smartphones and 854 X 480 (WVGA and FWVGA) resolutions before, and Android’s 1024 puts a bit more length into the display while having the same 480 width.
The device will be powered by a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, which is capable of capturing 8-megapixel photos with LED flash, 720p HD video recordings, and also support HDMI output. The metal back is curved, and the screen is said to have an LED edge-lighting. Also, the device will come with an accelerometer and gyroscope.
