Sipdroid Offers Android WiFi

While there already is an official Skype client in the Android Market, you’ll notice that it doesn’t offer VoIP over Wi-Fi, rather it depends on your minutes and data plan. The good news is that the folks behind the Sipdroid project are trying to give you just that – VoIP via Wi-Fi on your Android-device. Sipdroid is supposedly targeting a May release, though the exact date isn’t confirmed yet. What started out as an open-source project has unfortunately moved to a closed development model, but hopefully the app will fulfill its potential, and we’ll have a good VoIP app for the Android platform.
