Nokia Siemens To Expand In US With Nortel?

It looks like the economic downturn hasn’t scared Nokia Siemens Networks too much, as it has reportedly offered to purchase large pieces of Nortel Networks, which includes its carrier network unit and research unit for LTE next-generation wireless technology. Unfortunately for Nortel, it had to file for bankruptcy protection back in January. One of the reasons for the offer would be to get a bigger foothold in the US market where Nortel already has a large base, and part of the offer is to include the purchase of a Nortel R&D unit focused on LTE wireless technology.
