Palm WebOS Accounting

It’s not exactly hi-tech news, but if you’re obsessed with Palm and its webOS, you’ll probably want to know that a leaked document has shed some light on how the company plans to handle the accounting for the Palm Pre and other webOS related revenue. According to the document leaked, all the revenue and expenses for the Palm Pre will be distributed across 24 months, evening out the 2-year contract and device cost over that period of time. On the other hand, the sales of the old PalmOS products will be recognized immediately. Palm seems to stress that these measures are only applied to the accounting records, and it does not affect the company’s cash flow.
