HTC Looks To Double China Handset Sales
Reports indicate that HTC is planning to double its smartphone sales figures in China this year. The company currently has a rather small percentage of the market there and only sold 800,000 units in 2008. Of course, when you take into account the population of the country, there is massive potential for HTC over there. The good news for HTC is that it is fully capable of coming up with devices that support the radio technologies such as TD-SCDMA, WCDMA, and CDMA 2000 and will continue to partner will major carriers like China Mobile. Surprisingly, China is currently only responsible for 4-5% of HTC’s revenue, and that looks like something that HTC is intent on changing.
