Ericsson To Pull Out From SE Joint Venture?

It’s certainly not official news yet, but it will certainly be greeted with mixed reactions if it’s true. Word on the street is that Ericsson is looking to end its part in the Sony Ericsson joint venture, and has even approached Sony about the issue. According to the rumor, Sony has expressed interest in acquiring Ericsson’s 50% stake in the joint venture, though it’s not surprising that Sony doesn’t have the cash to do so just yet, especially when you take into account the global economic situation. The issue isn’t completed yet, so we’ll just have to wait and see how things turn out.
