AT&T iPhone Without Commitments

Good news! AT&T is clearing stock and offering to waive commitment and activation obligations when you buy their 8GB and 16GB iPhone 3Gs. They have, however, imposed a “one unit per line” requirement which would imply that you would have to be registered with an active line to make a purchase. It would be tough for AT&T to regulate and monitor this though. With prices of $599 for the 8 GB and $699 for the 16GB, one wonders if there will be a big rush to help AT&T clear its stock. Let’s wait and see.
