Windows Mobile To Be Renamed As Windows?

Reports are going around that Microsoft intends to ditch the “Mobile” from the “Windows Mobile” name, and there might not even be a version number after it too. This would mean we would be referring to phones as “Windows phones” instead of “Windows Mobile 6 phone”. There are suggestions that this was done to mask the slow release cycle of Windows Mobile, and so users might not complain that the phone they’re getting has an older version of Windows Mobile. Of course, if Microsoft would just focus on getting the updated Windows Mobile versions out sooner (and with good quality), there wouldn’t be so much fuss.
