A Doctor In Your Phone
How would you like your cell phone to save you a trip to the doctor? No, we’re not suggesting you start texting your doctor with your symptoms in order to avoid paying for a visit to the doctor, rather, Applied Nanodetectors Ltd. (AND) which hails from the UK has a rather interesting prototype cell phone that is being paraded at the International Nanotechnology Exhibition & Conference. What’s so special about this phone? Well, it’s actually made by Nokia, but it features AND’s chip that has integrated sensors which detect the minute traces of different gases (CO2, NOx and NH3) in your breath, analyze it and churn out the results for you. It’s probably not something that you’d do everytime you pick up your phone, but it would certainly be useful to have a doctor living in our cell phones in the future.
