Verizon Alltel Deal To Be Done On Jan 9th

It looks like Verizon has finally sealed the $5.9 billion deal that will see it gobble up Alltel and have a huge 78 million subscriber base, which is about 3 million more than its closest rival – AT&T. Growing so big certainly didn’t come without a cost, as Verizon will have to assume about $22.9 billion of Alltel’s debt, and that certainly isn’t pocket change.
