Apple’s iPhone 2.2 firmware update has almost made the iPhone 3G impossible to unlock, so if you’re having trouble unlocking the phone, and are holidaying in Hanoi, then you might want to check out one of the local cell phone stores, as there is a businessman called Tuan Anh Do, who is skillful enough to unlock your iPhone 3G at the hardware level. This is done by dismantling the phone, taking the baseband chip out, getting the information to a file, and then removing the locking data using a hex editor and reprogramming the chip with the newly programmed file. It sure sounds like a lot of work, but you have to admit, being able to use your iPhone 3G on any network is extremely tempting. Currently the charge is only $80, so it would sound like a steal to many people. If you’re worried that the delicate process might brick your phone, the shop owner is willing to compensate you a new phone if he bricks your iPhone, but so far he hasn’t had the need to do so just yet.

It looks like the folks over at Digitimes have come up with their own interpretation of things to come – that there will be no iPad Air 3 released, at least for this year. Digitimes has had their fair share of hits and misses in the past, so it would be best to take this rumor concerning the non-release of the iPad Air 3 in 2015 with a pinch of salt.
Digitimes also laid claim that the iPad mini 4 will not be as supercharged as some of the rumors that had been going around, as it will bring with it only small and incremental upgrades when compared to its predecessor, the iPad mini 3. This does not seem to bode well for fans of the compact tablet, taking into consideration how the iPad mini 3 itself was improved over its predecessor with a new Touch ID fingerprint reader.
Since Apple tends to roll out a new iPad in October, we will just have to sit tight and see whether this particular rumor has enough “legs” to run.
