UK G1 Roaming Disabled By Default

A user was recently caught out with his roaming charges when he took his T-Mobile G1 overseas, raking up a bill over $100 for doing so. Fortunately for users in the UK, roaming isn’t turned on by default for them, and if you try and turn it on manually, there will be a warning message to notify you first. The bad news is that when roaming is turned off, it means all roaming is off, not just data roaming. So if you turn it on, you’ll most certainly incur data roaming charges. It looks like T-Mobile’s G1 isn’t the smartest phone to bring around the world with you, unless you’re extremely rich.
