SMS Ban Lifted In Kashmir

The five-month ban on text messaging has finally been lifted in Kashmir. The SMS service was initially banned in August after it was alleged that some Hindu right wing activists were using SMS to spread rumors following the Amarnath land transfer controversy. 5-months will certainly seem like a very long time to users who are hooked on text messaging, and it’s good to see that the service has been reinstated.
