RIM has announced that it will be acquiring mobile software firm Chalk Media for about $17.2 million in cash. RIM will also lend the company $1.8 million to provide them with working capital until the acquisition goes though. Chalk’s Mobile Chalkboard allows mobile content to be created, sent and tracked on BlackBerrys. Chalk’s board of directors has approved of the acquisition and is recommending that shareholders vote in favor of the transaction.
