New Module to Enhance Battery Life
Fancy your cell phone to have a battery that lasts 12 times as long? Well, it looks like Atif Shamim, a PhD student at Canda’s Carleton University agrees and he’s come up with a way to make devices do that. He has taken apart devices and removed all the wires that connect the electrical circuits to the antenna, and developed a module that allows the connection to operate wirelessly, which consumes about 12 times less power than usual. This has already won him an award at the European Wireless Technology Conference, and he has already filed for a patent in the US and Canada. We certainly wouldn’t mind to have a BlackBerry that lasts 24 days instead of 2 days.
