India To Cut Up To 25m Mobile Phones

Reports are going around that mobile network operators in India might cut off up to 25 million mobile phones from next month, in response to a security clamp down on unregistered mobile phones and in light of the recent terrorist attacks in the country. The Department of Telecom has instructed mobile network operators to disconnect handsets which do not have IMEI numbers from January 6th 2009.
