Google Gives Out G1 As Holiday Bonus

Google might be ruling the Internet, but that certainly doesn’t mean that it’s immune to the financial crisis, and based on the Christmas bonus that Google is giving out this year, it must be feeling the pinch too. Instead of the usual cash bonus that Google’s staff normally receive, they will be receiving a HTC Dream (a.k.a. T-Mobile G1), which is a special edition that will come as an unlocked handset. All of Google’s staff who are eligible to receive this handset will receive it, and the staff that are in countries that the G1 is not supported will receive a cash equivalent of the phone. It sounds a little bleak, but at least if the majority of Google’s staff are using the G1, then there should be quite a few improvements for this phone coming soon.
