Your iPhone Can Be Crashed Remotely

Published

on

It seems that Piergiorgio Zambrini, the author of the ZiPhone unlocking tool has found a way to crash iPhones remotely via a video. If users were to try and play the video, their iPhone would shutdown and have to go through a lengthy reboot, and it seems that not only iPhones are affected, but iPods and Apple computers too. It seems the problem is in the audio portion of Apple’s video format, and if somebody writes a program that uses the bug in a video, he can trigger the crash whenever an iPhone tries to play said file. Apparently Zambrini is trying to use this information to get a job at Apple, and he’s already released the technical info of this bug to Apple so that they can fix it.
