Weird Bug For The G1

Published

on

Here’s a rather weird, funny, yet serious bug that has been discovered on T-Mobile’s Android-powered G1. By now most if you have probably read about the ability to gain root access to the phone, but what most people don’t know is that everything you type is sent to the shell with admin user privileges. If you want to try it out, save whatever you’re doing, and type < return > -r-e-b-o-o-t- < return > into the phone, and the phone will just reboot. Google will be patching this bug in the latest RC30 firmware which will be updated OTA (over the air), so this should only apply to users who are running the RC29 firmware. It suddenly looks a lot more serious to text “rm –r” to your friends in a message.
