UIQ Puts Up Notice Of Dismissal

This is rather depressing news to take into the weekend, but it’s news nonetheless. It looks like 270 staffers from UIQ will have to start looking for jobs soon as UIQ Technology, which was said to be “dead” by Sony Ericsson’s Patrick Olson, has put its remaining employees on notice of dismissal. Apparently Sony Ericsson has agreed to continue funding the company, but only on a month by month basis to allow it to investigate options for the future, which probably means that SE is willing hang around UIQ only long enough till they find a suitable replacement.
