Nokia Going To Japan In 2009 As An MVNO

Nokia looks like it’s making a rather daring move, by planning to join the mobile phone market in Japan as an MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator). MVNO’s have not been the most successful businesses, so it will be interesting to see how Nokia goes about this. In terms of network coverage, Nokia will piggy back on NTT DoCoMo’s network, and though Nokia only has about 1% of the market share in Japan, it will be taking on giants such as Sharp and Matsushita.
