Multitouch For The T-Mobile G1?

iPhone users are very happy to gloat about the fact that their iPhone has multi-touch support, and you have to admit it’s a very fun feature. But what would they say if they found out that T-Mobile’s G1 also has multi-touch support? A programmer was apparently going through the driver for the Synaptics touchscreen on the G1 and found some code that was commented out. After the code was put back in and the kernel recompiled, he was able to track two separate finger presses at one time. While this doesn’t mean that we’ll be getting multi-touch on our G1’s anytime soon, but it’s nice to see that such a technology might be possible to implement on the phone. Now all we have to wait for is for some savvy coder to come up with a solution.
