Apple Looking Into New Display Technology

Apple looks like it’s trying out some cool display technology, as a recent patent application that was filed by it shows. The patent describes a form of “always on” display, which means that when the normal LCD display goes off, a second low-power layer would take over the task of displaying basic information like the time, notifications and battery life etc. The second layer sure sounds a lot like the current E-ink technology, but it will be interesting to see if any of this technology makes it to devices like the iPhone.
