Verizon Alltel Merger Gets Green Light From DoJ

AT&T had better watch out, as the proposed merger between Verizon Wireless and Alltel has just been approved by the Department of Justice, and if everything goes according to plan, the merger will make it the largest wireless carrier in the nation. The last hurdle that they have to overcome will be the FCC (Federal Communications Commusion), where a vote will have to be passed on November 4th. Having a giant network is good, as long as they don’t become a bully and start stifling consumer choice. Hopefully the merger will mean better service and increased coverage.
