Software Fix For iPhone 3G Reception?

While Apple hasn’t confirmed that the iPhone 3G receptions are due to the Infineon 3G chips, most people are starting to believe so. Now there are whispers on the internet that Apple is planning to try and solve the problem via a software update, rather than a full product recall (which would look really bad). Would a software update really be able to solve the problem? We’ll have to wait until such a software update is released to be able to judge.
