Leap Wireless Is Against Verizon-Alltell Deal

Published

on

Leap Wireless has petitioned the FCC to stop the Verizon-Alltel merger. The CDMA carrier isn’t too happy with the planned deal, stating that it would decrease competition in the industry, and would make it much harder for smaller carriers like itself to negotiate roaming agreements, which could result in their customers not getting coverage in certain areas. Verizon Wireless had previously stated that they would honor any roaming agreements that Alltel has with other carriers. A spokesperson for Verizon stated that they had not seen the complaint yet, but would respond to any comments through the FCC.
