Sipgate Encouraging iPhone Jailbreaks?

Published

on

It looks like California-based sipgate, who offer a VoIP client for the iPhone, might be going head to head against T-Mobile Germany. What’s the big deal? Well, the problem is that sipgate requires a jailbroken iPhone to run, which T-Mobile say is encouraging users to jailbreak their iPhones. To add salt to the wound, T-Mobile’s contract terms disallows VoIP of any kind. T-Mobile has even gone so far as to send a “cease and desist” notice to sipgate, who are planning to fight to the bitter end. In the meantime, sipgate is still providing service, and say that “for the time being, its users are safe”.
