Nokia Drops Support For BlackBerry Connect

While users are busy finding out that their latest E-series phone doesn’t have BlackBerry Connect, Nokia has made a rather unpleasant announcement that they will not be supporting BlackBerry Connect. They said:

“RIM are a competitor and have done a reasonable job in a space that is traditionally ours, so it’s no great surprise that we see this as an opportunity to give consumers a proper choice on what email solution they want.”

While that may sound smart when you first hear it, it doesn’t seem too smart when it’s taken into account the number of people who use BlackBerry connect for their work email, and that the lack of BlackBerry Connect support might just push them towards devices from RIM. To make matters worse, Nokia’s own email client isn’t well known for being very user friendly. Let’s hope that Nokia makes a U-turn on this policy.
