When Steve Jobs promised a greener Apple, he wasn’t joking. It seems that Apple’s new iPhone 3G will be shipped in a potato starch tray. Dutch company PaperFoam has received orders from Apple for “millions of paperfoam packages”, supposedly for its new 3G iPhone.

According to them, the iPhone 3G will be shipped in a cardboard box with a starch tray inside the box, which is fully recyclable. PaperFoam claims it has a carbon footprint reduction of 90 percent compared to plastic, and consists of 100 percent natural resources, either potato starch or tapioca starch.
