iPhone 2.0 Unstable On First Generation iPhones

Published

While Apple hasn’t officially released the iPhone 2.0 firmware for the first-generation iPhones yet , many savvy users were able to download it via direct links, and since it was hosted on Apple’s servers, it was assumed that everything would be peachy keen.

While most people who installed it seem to be having fun with Apple’s new App Store, a few users have had quite a few problems after upgrading to the 2.0 firmware. Problems include interface lag, applications crashing, hard resets and other nasties. Now rumors are surfacing that the firmware update that was downloaded was only meant for 3G phones, and not the first generation of iPhones. Funnily enough, the firmware of the iPhone 3G at launch is 5A345, whilst the one that was downloaded was 5A347. It looks like we’re in for a spot of confusion, until Apple decides to clear this up, and hopefully release the official 2.0 firmware for first generation iPhones in the process.
