IBM Highlight Converts Sites For Mobiles

Some webmasters might be just plain stubborn, and refuse to create a mobile-optimized version of their site. So what are users to do? If IBM’s latest research project succeeds, users might have more control over whether they get a mobile- version of a site or not. “Highlight” is a Firefox-based plug-in which will allow users to script common tasks on sites and then condense them to simple mini-sites which would work much better on mobile phone browsers, and the new sites will be copied to a proxy server, which probably would have to be hosted by IBM or some other company. Some sites probably wouldn’t be too happy if this were to be true though, as it might mean that their content might be re-hosted somewhere where they would have no control.
