CSR Showcases Bluetooth Low Energy

Bluetooth low energy, while that may sound like your Bluetooth running now on battery or something, it’s actually the new name for what was previously known as Ultra Low Power Bluetooth, or Wibree. CSR has taken the time to demo its latest BlueCore7 dual mode chip, which supports Bluetooth low energy, and Bluetooth 2.1. The beauty of this new technology, is that it is able to transfer data to a nearby mobile phone using just 3 frequencies, which is a lot less than the usual 32, which will translate to lower power consumption, and of course, longer battery life. The Bluetooth SIG expects the final adoption of Bluetooth low energy technology in Q1, 2009.
