Apple Hogs Samsung's Supply Of NAND Chips

Though it’s still an unconfirmed rumor, but as the story goes, it seems that Apple took a very large order of NAND chips from Samsung, the world’s primary supplier of flash memory. This order is said to be for 50 million “8Gb-equivalent” NAND chips. This supposedly prompted Samsung to tell its smaller customers that it would be cutting supply of NAND chips to them while fulfilling its order from Apple. This situation probably isn’t helped by Samsung lowering its manufacturing output in April and May to try and reduce the problem of oversupply. Hopefully this means that there will be plenty of iPhone 3G’s available for purchase when it’s released.
