T-Mobile USA Sues Starbucks Due To New AT&T WiFi Deal
News is in that T-Mobile USA has filed suit against Starbucks due to the transition of the Starbucks WiFi network from T-Mobile’s Hotspot service to AT&T. T-Mobile is claiming that it had an agreement that allowed it to continue to exclusively service any Starbucks location in any market that had not been completely converted over to AT&T. The problem is, AT&T and Starbucks launched a new free WiFi access program nationwide that relied mainly on T-Mobile’s network infrastructure that it had placed in Starbucks locations in previous years.
T-Mobile claims that AT&T benefited prematurely from its new agreement with Starbucks, at the expense of T-Mobile. The lawsuit indicates that only two markets in the U.S. have been transitioned from T-Mobile’s infrastructure and onto that of AT&T.
