iPhone 2.0 Provides Secure Deletion Of User Data

Users who are still concerned about their private information being left behind on their old iPhones can now breathe a sigh of relief. Rumor has it that Apple’s latest iPhone 2.0 software provides an updated way to securely erase user content and settings from their iPhones.

The process is said to be similar to Leopard’s Secure Erase Trash feature, which will unlink data and overwrite it with random bits, making the data impossible to recover. Performing this action obviously requires more work, and thus extra time. This process with take about an hour, but for privacy, it’s probably time well spent.
