Google Tops Mobile Phone Search

According to the latest data from Nielsen Mobile, Google has raked in 61 percent of the mobile search market in the first fourth months of the year. Second and third place go to Yahoo! with 18% and MSN at 5% respectively.

Apparently the gulf between Google and the others initially caused the company to ask their engineers to double check the data and make sure that the wasn’t any mistake, and there obviously wasn’t any.

One of the reasons that may have pushed Google to such new heights in terms of mobile search dominance is the fact that it’s set as the default search provider in the iPhone, with Yahoo! being offeredas a secondary option. Users who insist on using MSN can browse to the page manually if need be.
