T-Mobile launches UMTS/HSDPA 3G Network in New York
T-Mobile has officially launched their UMTS/HSDPA 3G network in New York City today. Subscribers who own phones that have 1700 MHz radios, such as those from Nokia and Samsung will be able to use the voice and data wireless services provided by the new network. Compatible phones will automatically connect to the best available signal and see better internet speeds.
T-Mobile also said that it will be introducing an HSDPA phone, along with “data-centric, all-in-one devices†in the coming months. T-Mobile said it will continue to build and support its Wi-Fi based Hotspot@Home products and services, as well as rolling out the 3G network to other markets throughout the rest of 2008, and expects to cover most of it’s data footprint by the end of the year.
