RIM And Microsoft Prepare To Bring Windows Live To The BlackBerry
RIM(Research in Motion) and Microsoft have announced that they are working together to bring Windows Live services to the BlackBerry smartphones. Windows Live notably offers email and instant messaging, allowing its users to keep in touch with friends and contacts.
As a result of this collaboration, Windows Live Hotmail users will have instant ‘push’ access for the first time on the platform, as well as be able to keep their inboxes in sync, ensuring that there aren’t any duplicate emails, and email statuses are up to date. Full HTML email will also be supported, and users will be able to user a separate inbox for their Windows Live Hotmail account, or have it delivered to the device’s unified inbox.
Other features include presence status for contact lists, making it easy for users to see which contacts are available for instant chats, all of which can be saved into a log for later reference. File transfer will probably be icing on the cake, and is going to be supported.
Windows Live services can be expected to be available to BlackBerry owners around Summer 2008
