Microsoft Forecasting 50% Growth For Windows Mobile
Microsoft’s mobile operating system, Windows Mobile for smartphones has been experiencing some nice growth lately, shipping over 11 million units for the 2006-2007 fiscal year. This is something Microsoft hopes to capitalize on, forecasting 50% growth for both 2008 and 2009.
Windows Mobile is already used by several handset manufacturers on their smartphones, both on touchscreen, and non-touchscreen handsets. Windows Mobile has been facing fierce competition from the Apple iPhone recently, and licensees such as HTC have been busy developing their own finger-friendly interfaces for Windows Mobile in order to keep things competitive.
